Remembering the Cyclone Roller Coaster at Revere Beach
"the Cyclone"
The Cyclone was built in 1925 at the cost of $125,000; it was the tallest at the time with a 100 foot (35m) vertical drop from its flag topped peak with breathtaking views of Revere Beach in Massachusetts. The speed of an average car reached 45 to 50 mph (75 km/h) and was considered one of the fastest. It was operated by a 100 horse power motor that powered the chain to control the cars.

Three trains could run simultaneously along the 3600 feet (1,100m) of track with each one accommodating 24 riders. The cars were locked to the track; above the office door hung a sign "The Safest Ride on the Beach".  It cost 10¢ to ride the Cyclone when it first opened, 50¢ when it closed.
